The UFTI welcomes Dr. Fabio Sasahara as Associate Engineer at the UFTI/McTrans Center. Dr. Sasahara specializes in applications related to the Highway Capacity Manual (HCS). He will be engaging with software developers to expand the HCS, provide customer technical support for clients, including training and conducting webinars. Dr. Sasahara has a Ph.D. in transportation engineering from the University of Florida, where he led research that developed new methods for the HCM under the supervision of Dr. Lily Elefteriadou, Professor and Director of the UFTI. Prior to graduate school, he worked as a professional civil engineer in consulting and project management for transportation infrastructure projects. He is also actively involved with the Highway Capacity and Quality of Service Standing Committee at TRB, where he currently serves as the User Liaison Lead. Dr. Sasahara is an active member of ITE, where he held several positions in the UF student chapter between 2016 and 2020, including President. After graduating, he currently serves under the ITE Executive Committee of the Planning Council.
