McTrans to work with SwRI on FDOT District 5 Project regarding R-ICMS using HCS7

The UFTI’s McTrans Center will be working with the Southwest Research Institute’s (SwRI) Critical Systems Department (CSD) as subject matter expert consultants for HCS7 (a product of McTrans) under the Central Florida Regional Integrated Corridor Management System (R-ICMS) project. McTrans Director Bill Sampson will serve as the PI with assistance from Vishal Khanapure, assistant director for McTrans. SwRI was awarded the project by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5 for the purpose of designing and developing the R-ICMS. The project will be active from 2018 to 2020.

The R-ICMS is designed to utilize a third-party traffic signal timing optimization tool (SOT) as a portion of the overall system. The Streets module in the HCS7 software suite, developed by McTrans, is a Highway Capacity Manual compliant SOT that has been selected for use in the R-ICMS architecture.
