Dr. Pruthvi Manjunatha, who recently graduated with his Ph.D. and will be working with the UFTI as a post-doctoral associate, taught a course on “Sustainable Transportation Systems” in this program. He taught a class of primarily civil engineering students from July 16 to July 27, 2018.

“In addition to language and cultural barriers, it was an exciting challenge to present the class in a local perspective. Most classes involved presentation of common transportation topics followed by how they fit in the Colombian context. For example, an entire class of four hours was dedicated to discussion on ‘Transmilenio,’ the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system of Bogota.” Said Dr. Manjunatha.

It was also a great opportunity for Dr.Manjunatha to get to know other faculty members from all over the world and explore Colombia with them. Though it was a short summer course, the students developed a great bond with Dr. Manjunatha and as a farewell gift, they presented him with the Colombian Jersey from FIFA 2018 world cup.
