The IATBR International Conference 2018 took place in Santa Barbara/CA from July 14th – 20th, having researchers from all around the world.

The conference was organized into the following research topics:

  • Mobility as a Service (MaaS)
  • Time Use – Well Being
  • Healthy, Happy, and Holistic Living
  • Automated Vehicles – Perception and Behaviors
  • Machine Learning – Fundamentals
  • Life Course
  • Big Data for future mobility
  • Freight and Technology

Each area had a series of 15-min presentations from researchers. All participants were  assigned to a workshop related to one of these specific areas, where they participated in interactive sessions with discussions and brainstorming on potential research ideas for the future. After the end of the sessions, there was a vote for the ideas in order of priority and each group wrote a short research need statement with proposals on how to address these ideas. Fabio Sasahara, a doctoral student at the UFTI, presented on “Modeling User Compliance with Route Guidance: An Analysis using the Metropia App.”

The next IATBR Conference will be held in Chile in 2021.
