UFTI’s T2 Center Certifies FDOT District 2 Personnel in ACI Training

On August 19-21, the T2 Center conducted an American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing Technician training and certification workshop. The ACI certification is one of the requirements for qualification to become a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) concrete field inspector. Wayne Rilko was the instructor and examiner and Linda Floyd proctored the written exams.

The class was made up of FDOT personnel from the Department’s Second District. Several District offices (Lake City, Jacksonville, and St. Augustine) were represented. Mr. Joe Hug, P.E., a member of the ACI’s Certification Programs Committee, flew in from Kansas City to spend the final day observing how Floyd and Rilko conducted the written and proficiency examinations. All went well – except that it was a little warmer than Mr. Hug thought it would be. Special thanks goes out to Mr. Douglas Jensen, Cemex’s Training Manager for the Orlando/Ocala area, for his assistance with the proficiency examinations. Here are some photos of the attendees taking their hands-on proficiency exams.

The University of Florida has been designated as a Local Sponsoring Group by the ACI. Floyd and Rilko are ACI members and participate in ACI programs, including assisting UF’s ACI Student Chapter.
