UFTI Student Wins Committee of 200 Scholar Award

It has been a busy year for civil engineering doctoral student Deja Jackson- and it’s only March!  Jackson has been named one of three students selected from the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering to receive the Committee 200 (C200) Scholar Award. It was announced at the Powered to Lead: Transforming the Future as Women Summit earlier this March, an event sponsored by the C200 and the Engineering Leadership Institute at the University of Florida.

C200 Scholar Awards are provided to outstanding women pursuing graduate studies (Masters, Ph.D.) who exemplify extraordinary leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to supporting other women. C200 Scholar Award recipients receive both a financial gift and access to unique learning and networking opportunities by the C200 organization.

Jackson has been recognized with other accolades this year, including Best Oral Presentation at the 2016 Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program (DDETFP) Transportation Research Showcase. This was for her work titled “Today’s Perception of Vehicle Safety and Its Impact on Preparing for Tomorrow’s Autonomous Vehicles”. The award was presented to her during the 95th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in Washington, D.C. in January.
