UFTI Opens Search for T2 Director

The UFTI has opened a search for Director of the T2 Center.

Position Description:

Lead the well-established T2 Center which houses the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), the Center for Transportation Training (CTT), Florida’s Pedestrian and Bicycling Safety Resource Center, the Florida Occupant Protection Resource Center, and several other dynamic grant-driven as well as revenue-supported programs.  Explore and develop new funding opportunities with agencies within Florida and nationwide. Establish annual center operating budget including existing and projected income from grants as well as auxiliary projects.  Work collaboratively with Center staff to set annual program goals and objectives.

Have  supervisory responsibility for 15-20 highly-motivated staff members; responsibility for hiring decisions and additional staff as needed. Execute existing grants; explore/secure new funding opportunities through partnerships, grants, and existing relationships locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally.

Co-ordinate the research-results dissemination, workforce development projects, and continuing education efforts with the UFTI, Transportation Research Center (TRC) and the Southeast Transportation Research Innovation Development and Education (STRIDE) Center, the Regional University Transportation Center (UTC) for the southeast housed at University of Florida. Work with all centers and units within the UFTI to explore new opportunities and build new programs in transportation technology transfer and workforce development.

Develop innovative technology transfer and continuing education strategies to address state-, national- and international- needs and opportunities. Build upon a documented history of success interfacing and facilitating conferences on an international (5 international conferences since 1992), national (31 showcase events featuring market-ready technology transfer for FHWA since 1998), and state level (more than 500 sessions for over 5,500 trainees in 2011).

Actively participate in local / state / national / international transportation organizations such as the Florida Association of County Engineers and Road Superintendents (FACERS), Florida Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA), Local Technical Assistance Programs  and Tribal Technical Assistance Programs (LTAP/TTAP) across the nation, Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE),  National Association of County Engineers (NACE), the Transportation Research Board (TRB), and Intelligent Transportation Society (ITS) Florida.

Apply educational or training administrative regulations and policies and recommend new and improved programs to effectively manage educational or training functions.

Perform other duties as assigned.
