UFTI Annual Report

Recently Published: The UFTI Annual Report. We have just published the first annual report of the UFTI, following its launch on October 4, 2013. The report covers the period of July 2013 to June 2014. Highlights include selected research projects, examples of UFTI’s impact on transportation research, students, technology transfer, steering committee and external advisory board representatives and more. Research

Participate in the 3D Shape Retrieval Contest using the Driver’s Motion Depth Database. Engineering students, faculty, researchers and professionals working in the area of transportation or computer sciences are invited to participate in the 3D Shape Retrieval Contest to evaluate the effectiveness of 3D-shape retrieval algorithms using the open-source scientific database created by a project funded by the Southeastern Transportation Research Innovation, Development & Education Center (STRIDE), a USDOT grant-funded University Transportation Center (UTC) housed at UF. Winners will be recognized at the 8th EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on 3D Object Retrieval in Zurich, Switzerland on May 2-3, 2015. Education

STRIDE Student Poster Showcase Winners @ TRB. Twenty-two students showcased their STRIDE-sponsored research and competed for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place scholarships. The showcase/competition was held in conjunction with the UFTI Reception during the 94th Annual Meeting of TRB in Washington, D.C. Read more to find out who won. [read more] 

Accepting Applications for the Transportation Research Internship Program (TRIP). The TRIP internship program is now accepting applications for summer 2015. Undergraduate students that are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and hold junior or senior status are eligible to apply.  Application deadline is March 18th. The TRIP program is sponsored by UFTI/STRIDE. [read more]


Technology Transfer

T2 Center Pilots Middle-School Aged Transportation Course using SimCity. Building on the educational benefits of computer games, the UFTI’s Transportation Technology Transfer (T2) Center developed a nine-week class for middle-school-aged students using the computer game SimCityEDU. Exit surveys showed that a majority of the participants were interested in taking another SimCity class. [read more]

McTrans Webinar Series in High Demand; Available Again for 2015. McTrans will be presenting a series of webinars on Highway Capacity Analysis. These were in high demand throughout 2014 and are now being offered throughout 2015.  There is limited seating, so read on to find out how to register. [read more]

UFTI Holds Annual TRB Reception at Washington, D.C. Venue. The 94th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) had a new venue this year and so did the UFTI’s annual reception. More information is provided on our website.  [read more]

STRIDE & UFTI Co-Sponsoring the 2015 UTC Conference for the Southeastern Region. Don’t forget to register and make your room reservations by March 4th for  the early bird registration to attend the University Transportation Centers (UTC) Conference for the Southeastern Region. The conference will take place March 26-27, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency/Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Ala. The event brings together faculty, students, practitioners, and public agencies in the southeast in a forum where information about on-going activities at all UTC-affiliated universities will be showcased.
