Student Spotlight: Phillip Haas. For Phillip Haas, a diversity of projects is the name of his game at UF. Haas has been a civil engineering graduate student since 2009 specializing in transportation safety. He is currently working toward his doctoral dissertation on three projects that are quite varied in nature. “You want to know the state-of-knowledge in the field so you can push yourself into finding something new – a new development,” said Haas. McTrans Releases New Update 6.65 to HCS 2010. HCS 2010™ (Release 6.65) is available!  HCS 2010 includes updated modules to implement the new Highway Capacity Manual (HCM 2010) procedures for Urban Streets, Signalized Intersections, Interchange Ramp Terminals, Roundabouts, Basic Freeway Segments, Freeway Weaving Segments, Freeway Merge & Diverge Segments, Freeway Facilities, Two-Lane Highways and Multilane Highways. UFTI’s Florida T2 Center Certifies FDOT District 2 Personnel in ACI Training. On August 19 to 21, 2014, the UF T2 Center conducted an American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing Technician Training and Certification Workshop for FDOT District 2 personnel across seven district offices. A member of ACI’s Certification Programs Committee flew in from Kansas City to observe the process. [read more]

STRIDE to Host Student Poster/Showcase Competition at UFTI Reception. The Southeastern Transportation Research, Innovation, Development and Education Center (STRIDE) will host a Student Poster/Showcase Competition during the UFTI Reception on January 12, 2015. STRIDE is a 2012 U.S. DOT grant funded regional (Southeastern) University Transportation Center housed at the University of Florida. [read more]

Registration Open for the 2015 University Transportation Centers (UTC) Conference for the Southeastern Region.  Registration is now open for the UTC Conference for the Southeastern Region, which will be held March 26-27, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency/The Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Ala. The conference is hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Mississippi State University. [read more]
