Call for Abstract! Research to Practice Transit Symposium October 24-26, 2023

The 2023 “Research to Practice” Transit Symposium is now accepting abstract submissions from transportation researchers and professionals to be considered for presentation. Please submit your abstract by filling out this questionnaire by July 31, 2023. For accepted presentations, presenters will be requested to submit their presentation by October 15, 2023.  The Symposium will take place October 24-26, 2023. The symposium will take place online and streamed on Youtube. As the transit industry strives to Build Back Better after COVID-19, we provide a platform where transit experts share insights on how evidence-based research has been translated into routine practice.

The Symposium Steer Committee invites abstract submissions for two types of sessions:

  • Researcher + practitioner sessions: we invite pairs of researchers and practitioners to jointly present a research project that addresses a practical issue important to a transit agency, metropolitan planning organization, and department of transportation. Please describe the project background, the partnership, and how the research findings are or will be used to improve transit practice. Each pair of presenters is allocated ~15 min for presentation and ~5 min for Q&A.
  • Regular sessions: traditional presentations where an individual presenter share transit-related research. Each presenter is allocated ~12 min for presentation and ~5 min for Q&A.

We are especially interested in the following topic areas:

  • Practical applications of transit data
  • Transit fare policy
  • Transit marketing and outreach strategies
  • Transit-centered multimodal integration (e.g., MaaS)
  • Transit apps and digital payments
  • Microtransit
  • Bus fleet electrification
  • Post-COVID ridership recovery strategies
  • Opportunities and challenges to transit research implementation

Submit your abstract now!
