Dr. Khiem Tram, Associate Professor, UF Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering

Dr. Khiem Tram is an Associate Professor in the UF Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering specializing in Geosystems Engineering. Geosystems engineering is the application of scientific methods and engineering principles to the acquisition, interpretation, and the use of materials related to the Earth’s crust for solving engineering problems. How does Dr. Tram’s work relate to transportation engineering? Dr. Tran utilizes a geosystems method called the Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation (NDT&E) diagnostic, to determine where failures and/or deterioration of transportation systems such as roads, bridges and tunnels exist. Dr. Tran’s work has cost-savings and public safety implications. Because of his transportation-related research, Dr. Tran is affiliated with the UFTI’s Materials and Infrastructure group, and will be working with others to advance this area.
