Abi Komma graduated from the UF with a Masters of Science in Transportation Engineering in August 2008. Komma is currently employed as a senior data scientist on the Computer Vision Platform team at Uber in San Francisco. The team is responsible for developing core computer vision capabilities such as text recognition, image classification, object detection that will be used by different teams across Uber. During Komma’s graduate education, Dr. Siva Srinivasan was his faculty adviser. In 2009, Komma won the Wootan Award for his master’s thesis titled “Continuous Departure-time Choice Models for Home-to-Work Commute,” where he modeled the departure time choice behavior of commuters who were traveling from home to work location. The award was presented at the 12th Anniversary CUTC Awards Banquet held during the 88th Annual Transportation Research Board Meeting in Washington D.C. on January 10, 2009.
