UFTI Student Marian Ankomah Studies with International Researchers in East Africa

Marian Ankomah, UFTI Ph.D. student, had the opportunity to attend and participate in an international research and training workshop in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The workshop gave an introduction to existing longitudinal African datasets along with training sessions, research opportunities and development of long-term collaborations and research bids. Ankomah received training sessions on choice modeling using longitudinal data from Africa. She also participated in a group which worked on datasets from the South Africa’s National Household Travel Survey and Tanzania’s Kagera Health and Development Survey. They then developed potential research ideas. Ankomah’s supervisor, Dr. Siva Srinivasan, informed her about this opportunity and encouraged her to apply in order to assist her dissertation.
