UFTI Students Serve on the Urban Streets Highway Capacity and Quality of Service TRB Subcommittee

Gustavo de Andrade and Fabio Sasahara, two doctoral students at the UFTI, are now members of the Urban Streets Subcommittee, which operates under the TRB Highway Capacity and Quality of Service (HCQSC) committee (AHB40). The subcommittee is tasked with focusing on level-of-service (LOS) analysis on urban arterials and streets with signalized or unsignalized intersections, with developing research statements on the subject, and with overseeing the production of chapters related to the Highway Capacity Manual. De Andrade is serving as secretary of the Urban Streets subcommittee, a role which he officially assumed during the 2018 TRB Annual Meeting this past January. In addition to his secretarial duties, de Andrade is expected to stay up-to-date on the subcommittee’s organizational needs and become proactive in the development of documents or other supporting material of interest to the subcommittee’s agenda. Sasahara and De Andrade have been tasked with developing TRB Research Need Statements (RNS). Additionally, they have volunteered to participate in a an RNS that de Andrade and Sasahara worked on obtained funding from two state DOTs.
