STRIDE Center Sponsors Workshop at the i3 Transportation Showcase in Orlando

The Southeastern Transportation Research, Innovation, Development and Education (STRIDE) Center, which is the 2012 U.S. Department of Transportation grant-funded regional University Transportation Center (UTC) housed at the University of Florida Transportation Institute (UFTI) organized a session on May 28, 2015, as part of the i3 Florida Transportation Showcase, which was a joint meeting/event organized by the Florida Section of Institute of Transportation Engineers (FSITE), the Intelligent Transportation Society of Florida (ITS Florida) and the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) conducted in Orlando, Fla. The STRIDE session included three presentations that highlighted Active Traffic Management (ATM) projects funded by the STRIDE Center. Dr. Lily Elefteriadou, from the UFTI, presented on “Freeway Management Research Findings,” discussing recent findings on the causes of traffic breakdown and ATM strategies to address breakdown. Dr. Mohammed Hadi from Florida International University discussed “Multi-Resolution Analysis of Advanced Traffic Management Strategies” and related research and development efforts conducted as part of STRIDE research. Dr. Nagui Rouphail from North Carolina State University discussed an “Interactive Active Traffic Management Platform Using HCM Concepts,” highlighting the development of a tool as part of STRIDE projects of methods and tools to support transportation agency processes related to ATM strategies.
