University of Kansas Hires a UFTI Alumna

Alexandra Kondyli had high expectations of her time in transportation studies, and those expectations were exceeded here at UF. Alexandra, a UF postdoctoral associate, graduated with her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 2009.

In her time on UF projects, she was usually the projector manager with duties to conduct and coordinate data collection and analysis efforts, write project progress reports and assist in writing of the draft final reports. Her greatest challenge: time management.

“Time management is always challenging, especially when balancing between teaching and research, which I had to do as part of the post-doc,” Alexandra said. “Thankfully, the experiences I gained at UF will help me in my next job as a faculty in being even more efficient in doing both research and teaching, and allocating my time appropriately.”

As for her transportation advisor Dr. Lily Elefteriadou – Alexandra asks “What’s not to like?”

“We always have very good communication, I’ve learned so many things working with her (both research and teaching) and she taught me how to do research on topics that are extremely important in transportation. She is generally a great mentor and I feel extremely lucky to be part of her team.”

Alexandra will be an assistant professor at the University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS) in August. She enjoys exercising, reading, and cooking as hobbies.
