UFTI Welcomes Two New External Advisory Board Members

The UFTI welcomes Alex Bond, and Grady Carrick, Ph.D., to the UFTI’s  External Advisory Board.

Alexander Bond, AICP, is a director at the Eno Center for Transportation, a Washington, D.C. based think tank and training organization founded in 1921. He is a specialist in transportation governance, regional planning, and organizational performance. Mr. Bond leads Eno’s workforce research efforts and training courses.

Prior to joining Eno, he was a senior associate at the consulting firm ICF International and a research faculty member at the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida. He began his career with the Urban Land Institute and the National Association of Regional Councils.

Mr. Bond is a member of the Transportation Research Board Committees on Management & Productivity (ABC20) and Metropolitan Policy, Planning & Processes (ADA20). He serves on the editorial board of the Journal State and Local Government Review, and was named a Top 40 under 40 by Mass Transit Magazine. Mr. Bond holds a bachelor’s degree  in Geography and a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Florida.


Grady Carrick, Ph.D., is a retired Florida Highway Patrol Chief, who distinguished himself as a champion for traffic operations and safety during his 30 years with the agency.  Since his retirement in 2012, Dr. Carrick has held his current position as founder and principal of the firm Enforcement Engineering Inc., where works with the FHWA, NHTSA, TRB, FDOT, universities, and engineering firms to advance a safe and efficient highway system.

An accomplished public manager, Dr. Carrick has also been a lifelong learner, most recently achieving a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the University of Florida.  His unique perspective as both a practitioner and researcher has helped him build bridges between the law enforcement, transportation, and academic professions.  He has a national reputation as an advocate for traffic safety and traffic incident management.  He has published and presented at numerous state, national, and international conferences on traffic safety and operations topics.
